1. Landmark Museum

Get a little background on Garland at the Landmark Museum. This cute little museum offers visitors a look into the foundation and history of the city, which was founded in 1850. They’ve collected and preserved loads of items from that time span, including old paper clippings, farm tools, and clothes.

2. Surf & Swim

Surf and Swim is Garland’s premier waterpark, which is located in the middle of Audubon Park. It’s a great place to bring your kids for the day. They can enjoy the wave pool and water slides, while you sit back and soak up the sun.

3. Resistol Hat Plant

Why come to Texas if you’re not going to sport a cowboy hat? There’s no shortage of flashy hats all over shops in Texas, but you’ll have an opportunity to see how they’re made at the Resistol Hat plant

In business since the 1930s, Resistol has made some of the most iconic hats in America. The tour takes about an hour and focuses on each part of the hat-making process.

4. Garland Bazaar

There are loads of great shopping malls in Garland, but our favorite spot to spend money is at the Garland Bazaar. It’s one of the most unique and multi-cultural shopping experiences around. With about 150 individual retail spaces and restaurants, you can’t go wrong spending a few hours here.

5. Rowlett Creek Preserve

Once you’ve shopped til you drop, get some fresh air at the Rowlett Creek Preserve. This is one of Garland’s nicest parks, full of gazebos, trails, and picnic areas. If you’re looking for somewhere to ride your bike and get a good view of the city, this is going to be the park for you.

6. Lakewood Brewery

Finally, after you’ve worked up a strong thirst, post bike ride, head to Lakewood Brewery on Executive Drive. Founded in 2011, Lakewood brews all of their craft beers on-site and has a 4000 square-foot beer garden that’s perfect on a summer evening.
