The anti-aging industry was worth over $250 billion in 2016. Unsurprisingly, this number is expected to grow every year.

We all must age, but we sure don’t want to look like we’re aging. Wrinkles, loosening skin, and age spots are not features most of us are looking forward to.

Although we can’t stop aging, we can certainly slow it down. You’ll be surprised to learn there are many simple, everyday anti-aging tips.

Keep reading for 5 effective anti-aging tips that will help you look and feel better.

5 Anti-Aging Tips

1. Hydrate!

There’s a reason we started our anti-aging tips with hydration. Staying hydrated is incredibly important for our bodies. We consist of mostly water (up to 60%) and suffer the consequences when we don’t have enough of it.

Our skin dries, our brain literally shrinks, and we feel tired when we’re dehydrated.

Always be sure to drink plenty of water (not soda!) and keep skin hydrated.

2. Minimize Facial Strain

Frowning, sipping from straws, and other facial strains are aging your face. These strains cause your wrinkles to become more prominent. This list doesn’t include smiling, since we all know the world can use more smiles!

Be conscious of everyday facial strain and try to minimize it where you can. Cosmetic surgery in the form of Botox and dermal fillers also helps minimize facial strain.

Alternatively, consider using a silk or satin pillowcase. They can help reduce friction between your skin and the fabric, resulting in fewer wrinkles. Plus, these pillowcases feel amazing.

3. Don’t Forget the Sunblock

The sun is one of the greatest sources of skin damage. And most of this solar damage is unseen, making it more difficult to fear solar radiation.

Be sure to consistently wear SPF-containing everyday moisturizers. Moisturizers with an SPF of 30 are great. And of course, if you’re planning to be in the sun all day, use higher SPF, regularly apply sunblock, and wear a hat.

4. Get Some Exercise

Every day, we read a new article about why exercise is the most effective drug on the planet. It boosts our immune system, releases feel-good endorphins, and keeps us healthy.

You’re sure to feel great after exercising, and research suggests that exercise may slow signs of skin aging.

There are too many benefits of exercise to list, so take the word of most doctors and get moving.

5. Get Plenty of Sleep

If you needed another reason to catch up on beauty sleep, here it is.

Sleep is when our cells are able to replenish themselves. This includes skin cells. You’ll want to get plenty of rest, and minimize stress, to allow your body to effectively replenish its skin cells.

Final Thoughts

Every day, we are bombarded with new skincare regimens and products. While many of them boast amazing results, some of the most effective anti-aging hacks start right at home.
