How to Get Rid of Wrinkles When You See Signs of Aging

One study showed that, in women under 35, about 30% of them started using anti-wrinkle cream.

Regardless of what age you are, wrinkles can be frustrating to deal with, but thankfully there are things you can do to prevent or treat them.

If you want to get rid of wrinkles, check out our guide on things to remove and prevent them!

Don’t Smoke

If you smoke, you should try and stop smoking.

While smoking is bad for your health for all kinds of reasons, it really doesn’t help with wrinkles.

It can start to age your face even faster than normal. Even if you aren’t the one directly smoking, just being around someone who is smoking can really start to speed up the aging process.

Use a Moisturizer

You may already use a moisturizer, but using one can help in getting rid of wrinkles. It can also help to prevent it as well.

When you use a moisturizer, you’re rehydrating your face and keeping it from drying out. Part of aging means that your skin loses its hydration, so it’s even more important to start adding it back in.

Not only does it hydrate your skin, but it can help to soften it and give it important nutrients.

When you choose a moisturizer, look at all of the ingredients. Find one that has hyaluronic acid and some Vitamin C in it. These nutrients are especially helpful at getting rid of wrinkles.

If you still can’t find a good moisturizer, ask your dermatologist for a recommendation.

Gently Remove Your Makeup

Sometimes when you wear makeup, it can be tempting to just go to bed without taking time to remove it all from your face.

However, going to bed with a dirty face every night will just damage your skin in the long run, so take the few minutes to take off all of your makeup. Once you do this, your skin will finally have a chance to breathe again.

When you do take off your makeup, you should do it gently, especially when it’s around your eyes.

The skin there can be really fragile and can stretch and get wrinkles really easily. Avoid rubbing them and pulling on them because this will break the elasticity of the skin which will then cause more wrinkles.

If you pull at wrinkles that are already there, you’ll just make it worse.

To take off your makeup, try using a cotton pad and some gentle makeup cleanser. Let the makeup break down and dissolve before you try and rub it all off your face.

Wash Your Face

Once you’re done getting your makeup off, it’s also important to always wash your face.

This process also will only take a few minutes, but it will do a world of difference for your face.

Again, be careful about what products you buy and choose to help you wash your face. Some of them contain harsh chemicals that could end up causing more wrinkles in your skin.

When you do wash it, again try not to scrub and pull at it, but go over it gently with a washcloth. If you do end up pulling at your face or neck, you can always tighten neck skin as well.

When you’re done washing your face, splash some cold water on it. This will help to close up all the pores so nothing else can get in them and cause an infection.

Avoid the Harmful Rays of the Sun

Soaking up some of the sun’s warming rays can feel nice at first, but the sun is not your friend.

The harsh UV rays that come from the sun can start to damage your skin and age it prematurely. When it starts aging faster, you’ll start to notice more wrinkles. If you already have wrinkles, try to limit your exposure to the sun as much as possible.

If you do have to go out into the sun, make sure you have some sunscreen that is at least an SPF of 30. You’ll also want to reapply this if you’re going to be out in the sun for a long time.

To better help your skin, you can also get a wide-brimmed hat and some big sunglasses. This will help to shield your skin a little bit more while still letting you enjoy the sun.

Avoid Stress

Stress will not only damage your mental wellbeing, but it can take a physical toll on you as well. When you’re stressed, your body produces cortisol.

This hormone is the stress hormone, and it will speed up the aging process for you, which creates or worsens more wrinkles.  In order to avoid that, try and learn how to manage your stress.

If you can’t avoid it, try finding ways to cope with it so it doesn’t take such a high toll on your health.

Some great things to help with stress can be meditating or exercising. If there are other activities you normally do to help relieve your stress, you should try and do those as well.
