1. Casey Anthony
Casey Anthony was brought on trial for the killing of her 2-year-old daughter.
It was one of the most publicized and famous trials of the 2000s. The jury declared that Anthony was not guilty of killing her daughter, sparking media and public outrage.
2. O.J Simpson
The sensational court case of O.J Simpson received round-the-clock media coverage as the former NFL player was accused of killing his estranged wife and her partner.
He was found not guilty and did not end up in prison, but later served time for armed robbery.
3. Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson makes our list of famous trials as one of the most high profile celebrity cases in the last 20 years.
In 2005, allegations against Jackson for child sexual abuse came to court. He was found not guilty, but allegations against the pop star remained for the rest of his life.
4. Scott Peterson
In March 2005, after three years of court proceedings, Scott Peterson was convicted of murdering his wife Lacey Peterson and their unborn child.
He now sits on death row.
5. Timothy McVeigh
Timothy McVeigh became the most notorious homegrown terrorist in America, after the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.
The terrorist attack killed 168 people, and McVeigh was sentenced to death by lethal injection in June 1997.
6. Robert Blake
Actor Robert Blake was accused of killing his wife in April 2002. The media watched the trial closely, and Blake was acquitted in 2005, with much public outcry.
The jurors claimed there simply wasn’t enough evidence to convict Blake.
7. Doctor Death
Jack Kevorkian became known as Doctor Death after years of allegations that he was helping terminally ill patients commit suicide.
He represented himself and was found guilty of second-degree murder after two days of trial.
8. Saddam Hussein
After the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was captured.
He was charged with crimes against humanity in front of a tribunal in Baghdad. He received the death penalty and was executed.
9. The Trial Surrounding Rodney King

The officers were acquitted in April 1992, and this verdict led to the Los Angeles race riots.
